Daddy
Daddy, did you ever miss my young hand
Did your stone heart ever hurt for me?
Have you at least once thought of me?
And did your soul shiver over it?
Daddy, did you ever dream of me at night
How the two of us walk around the park?
Did you dream of my bright smile?
And will you ever tell me:
Daughter, I love you and I will give you to no one.
Are you awakening in the middle of the night by my young eyes?
Did you ever dream
That we would one day be in each other’s hug?
Are you sometimes awoken by my young cry
Lost in a long lost memory
Because we have not been together for too long?
Will I someday be able to say
Daddy
Without my heart trembling
And without shivering when we meet?
Will you, at least once, say those warm words:
“Daughter, your daddy loves you!”
